Did you know that 1 minute of swimming is equivalent to about 4 minutes of running for a dog?!?
Even better is that swimming is low-impact, non-concussive & non-weight bearing. What does this mean? It means that they can enjoy physical exercise without putting strain and stress on their joints & tendons. The water distributes against their body evening which also allows for all the muscles to work without gravity pushing down on their joints.
Swimming exercise for your dog can:
* Reduce pain
* Provide exercise for decreased mobility, arthritis, or stiffness
* Improve recovery time from surgery, sprains & strain injuries
* Help with weight reduction & management
* Improve Cardiovascular fitness
* Improve body condition & physical performance
* Relieves Stress
* Improves Sleep
* Provides Mental Stimulation
* Builds Confidence

Therapeutic sessions for your dog in the swimming pool will be with a Elite Dog Centre trainer in the water with your dog.
At not time should hydrotherapy be a replacement for veterinarian assessment or care. We are happy to work along side you & your vet in your dogs recovery and/or treatment plan.
Please reach us at elitedogcentre@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
All dogs first session at our facility is an assessment/training session. This ensures that you know things operate at our facility & for us to see how your dog handles swimming. If your dog will not swim our amazing trainers are there during this session to assist you and your dog.
At the end of the session if your dog is not yet ready to enter the water on their own, additional training swim sessions will be required before you can book without a trainer.
No, we have several for you to select from. We have several different sizes so that we can find the properly fitted one for your dog.
All dogs must wear a life jacket when swimming until a member of our team signs off on swims without a life jacket. After all we want to keep them safe!
You may want to consider bringing a change of clothes for yourself! Please bring your own towel as well. We have towels on site for the dogs, but we do recommend you bringing your own for yourself (unless you want to use the dogs towel).
Consider bringing some shoes for around the pool. We do not allow outdoor shoes to be worn inside the facility/pool area.
We have life jackets for your dog onsite, but you are also welcome to bring your own. We also have toys for the pool, but you are also welcome to bring your own.
Unfortunately no. We do not allow anyone except our trainers in the water with the dogs. Make sure you dress to be around water though, everyone tends to get a little soaked from their dogs when they come out of the water.
After your swim time you will have 5 minutes to clean up and head down to the drying room, where there will be a towel waiting for you on the grooming table. There is a dryer there for your use to help dry your dog as well. You will have up to 15 minutes in the drying room after your swimming session.
You can bring up to 2 dogs for your session. Only one dog is allowed in the water at a time, unless a member of our team has approved. For dogs to swim together we need to ensure that they are safe to swim together and one dog will not cause the other dog to have issues in the water. We also need to assess and be confident that they will not get playing and damage the pool in any way.
We have a small fenced space on the deck for your second dog, a kennel or a tether.
Children under the age of 12 may not be on the pool deck. It is best to enjoy this time with your dog just you and your dog.
Elite Dog Centre's warm pool using a saltwater system that is safe for dogs. However, some dogs may have irritation. The dogs should also not be drinking the water from the pool, a little getting into their system is not usually a concern.
Our pool is 16' x 32' and 52" deep. There is a 16 x 16' deck with a ramp into the pool.
YES! Every dog must have proof of current vaccinations on file with Elite Dog Centre. We require at minimum 4-way, rabies & bordetella. Titer testing is acceptable.
All owners must also complete a waiver form prior to use which is updated annually.
Please also ensure that your dogs are free from fleas, lice and ticks. If these are found on your dog your service will not proceed, without a refund, and there will be additional cleaning fees associated.
We have additional skimmers working hard to keep up with any dog hair that is in the pool. Let's be realistic though, we are working with dogs and there will be dog hair around.
Dogs that are shedding excessively due to lack of grooming may be denied access to the pool.
We also require that nails be trimmed and kept at a proper length. If your dogs nails are long you may also be denied access to the pool.
We do offer nail trims on site, as well as dog wash & blow outs.
Finally, all dogs must also rinse off before entering the pool area to help reduce the amount of dirt and transfer going into the water.
